EcoGlass™

Benefits

The Bendheim EcoGlass™ Collection is comprised of textured architectural glasses produced through exceptional green manufacturing practices and a very high percentage of recycled glass.  Available in a range of clear textures offering different levels of obscuration, EcoGlass can enhance most daylighting applications. It contributes to lower daytime lighting costs, introduces clean design, and provides privacy. Its 25% to 40% post-consumer and over 20% pre-consumer recycled content reduces new / renovated buildings’ carbon footprint.

EcoGlass' journey begins in Germany through the glass factory Lamberts’ utilization of recycled glass. Sophisticated, computer-aided filtering systems redirect discarded glass from the municipal waste stream to comprise 25% to 40% post-consumer content of the new EcoGlasses. Lamberts’ internal recycling process further reuses factory production breakage for an additional 20% pre-consumer recycled content. The fine-tuned recycling system ensures the most homogenous glass cullet is employed, guaranteeing the quality and brilliance of EcoGlass.

Lamberts' deep commitment to the environment continues through the use of an advanced, ultra-clean-burning, oxygen-fueled cast glass furnace to produce EcoGlass. Natural solutions to manufacturing needs are employed wherever possible: the factory's specialized cooling ponds contain grass-eating carp, eliminating the need for chemical algaecides. 

Bendheim continued the EcoGlass joyrney, employing a highly energy-efficient tempering oven to provide the glass for a variety of safety and security applications. Unlike most tempering furnaces , its advanced oscillating drive system allows SO2-free (sulfur dioxide free) processing. SO2 emissions are known to produce acid rain and may cause permanent health problems.Specialized noise-reduction housing surrounds the cooling area of the tempering oven minimizing sound pollution and providing a community-friendly work environment. For specialty applications, EcoGlass in laminated form is processed utilizing environmentally-safe machinery and materials.

NEW! Color Coated EcoGlass™ 

Color Coated EcoGlass is a distinctive collection of large-format, back-painted, eco-friendly architectural glass products, available through Bendheim or our partners at Stone Source. It consists of five textures (Bamboo, Cast, Coral, Gothic and Solar), each in a couple of carefully selected colors, including neutral, metallic, and pearlescent colors. Custom colors are also available depending on project size.
